Definitely an interesting one — my sense would be that a reason behind Patreon’s success in this area (not just because it’s a great product) is the narrative Creators have been able to craft to drive their supporters to it; around them being stripped of income by evil youtube changing monetisation and algorithms etc, rather than just an expectation of higher quality content on YT.
